St. Vincent and the Grenadines

British Windward Islands

Outside of Kingstown is Fort Charlotte completed by the British in 1806 where the original cannons still gaze out upon the Caribbean.

The rich volcanic soil of these islands produces a rich variety of fruits and vegetables – bananas, pineapples, mangos, and citrus fruits among others.

The Grenadine chain of cays and islands with their white coral sand beaches and crystal clear waters are superb for all water sports. The major ones linked to St. Vincent are Bequia, Canouan, Mustique, Palm Island, Petite St. Vincent, Mayreau, and Union Island.

Sailing is very popular here, the short distances between islands being ideal for day sailing. Also, the rugged and mountainous terrain with its scenic valleys and waterfalls makes hiking a favorite activity.

A range of accommodations assures the visitor of a comfortable stay in these delightful islands.
