Welcome to Cabarete!

Cabarete is a small, quaint Caribbean village on the northern coast of the island Hispaniola 24 miles east of Puerto Plata and only 20 minutes away from the International Airport Puerto Plata. It is an impressive tropical vacation spot for young and active travelers looking for amusement in all ranks, seeking new friends and agitating sporting adventures. A real vacation treasure!

The semi-circular, 6 km long golden sandy beach is limited by a very tranquil lagoon girdled by lush green hills and abounding tropical vegetation. The offshore reef at the entrance of the bay with its glittering warm turquoise waters and the fascinating composition of nature elements including the low-lying hills behind the village causing a unique thermal effect create a very beautiful layout and an unusual synthesis of outstanding wind and wave conditions. Cabarete’s bay is today one of the top ten spots in the world for windsurfing with several international competitions held here during June and September. It is an extraordinary place not only for kiteboarding and windsurfing, but also for regular surfing at El Encuentro beach. Cabarete is the ideal playground for water-sport enthusiasts from all over the world, but even an overwhelming colorful sight for those who prefer people-watching and relaxing.

Scuba-diving, wakeboarding, cave exploring or canyoning, mountain-biking, horseback riding and golfing are only some more options to have fun. However, if you prefer to work on your perfect tan, just lay back and indulge your body in the delicious Caribbean sun and feel your worries float away.

Don’t worry; action does not stop when the sun sets. At night many restaurants, bars and discotheques are beckoning with candlelit tables, culinary treats and the heartily friendliness of the local people. Refreshing drinks and Merengue music invite you to join people from all around the world. You will have to try hard to tear yourself away and go to sleep.
