

A member of the British Commonwealth of Nations, the Cayman Islands are comprised of three islands: Grand Cayman where the capital and chief port of George Town, is located, Little Cayman, and Cayman Brac.
Although discovered by Columbus in 1503, the Caymans were colonized by the British mostly Scottish farmers. The name Cayman was given by Sir Francis Drake because of the large number of crocodiles he found there.
The main attraction of the islands today is offshore where the numerous reefs and wrecks are a delight for scuba divers. Deep-sea fishing for wahoo and blue marlin is also popular.
In addition tourism, the Cayman Islands have prospered as an international offshore banking center.
